More Americans are choosing to enhance their looks and reduce the signs of aging through plastic surgery procedures. The 2023 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, states that the overall growth of procedures increased 5% in the U.S. between 2022 and 2023. In 2022, there were 1,498,361 procedures performed in the U.S.; and in 2023, that number was 1,575,244. This is proof that Americans are choosing plastic surgery more than ever.
What are the Current Trends in Cosmetic Surgery Procedures?
There is no doubt that social media influencers and celebrities lead the way when it comes to trends. Whether it is fashion trends, the latest hairstyles, or an entire look, we look to others for the latest trends. For years, many sought large breasts and buttocks, with impossibly small waists, but there has been a shift in this trend. It appears that Brazilian butt lifts (BBL) have gone by the wayside. Today, more natural, slimmer silhouettes are back in vogue.
A report from PlasticSurgery.org states that while many still get implants and BBLs, the trend is to go smaller than what was “in” in the past several years. Many physicians also report that some patients are downsizing their breast implants and choosing sizes that are more proportionate with their frame and body size. A more natural aesthetic is being chosen over exaggerated-sized breasts.
The trend has changed. Now, most women prefer to look fit and muscular instead of voluptuous.
Body Contouring is Up!
Another trend on the upswing, according to that same study, found that many are opting for body-contouring procedures. Many people gained weight from inactivity during the pandemic and are now looking to shed some excess weight and get a little help sculpting that weight from less invasive procedures like liposuction. Many are choosing cool sculpting and other techniques that show results without experiencing any downtime.
Non- or minimally invasive procedures have also increased. Instead of having a full facelift, many men and women are choosing procedures that can be done in their physician’s office. Nonsurgical treatments like fillers, Botox, neurotoxins, and radio frequency treatments are becoming the new norm.
Interview Many Cosmetic Surgeons and Understand Your Options:
Before deciding on any procedure or physician, it is important to make sure that whoever you choose specializes in the treatment you are considering. Look for physicians like Dr. Joel Aronowitz, who has been practicing for over 41 years. Joel Aronowitz is affiliated with the highly respected Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
During the interview process, you should ask to see photos before and after and speak to the physician about recovery time and what you should realistically expect from the procedure.
The right cosmetic procedure can help those growing older feel younger and more active. It is each person’s private decision. If something makes you feel better, then it may be the right option for you.
